The Rotary Club of Colombo East, responded to a request to conduct a 7 day training programme for pre-school teachers in the Kopay division in Jaffna. A total of 174 teachers voluntarily contribute their time and effort to train pre-school children selflessly. District Governor Suri Rajan inaugurated the training program on the first of November 2009, during his recent visit to Jaffna. The program was sponsored by Rotary Colombo East and was initiated and co-ordinated by PP. Dharshan John, District Chairman , Community service.

In addition to the DG, PDG’s Gaje, Krish, President Mahilnan, PP. Shan and Rtn’s. Sampath, Jeyaraj and Vijeyawel of Colombo East traveled all the way to Jaffna and attended the inauguration ceremony.

The Zonal Director of education Jaffna, Mrs. Vethanayagam, co-ordinated the resource personnel and the training. The teachers who underwent training will be awarded with a certificate signed by the department of education and Rotary Colombo East.
